Astrology Reveals All: The Worst Zodiac Sign To Date, Based Entirely On Your Own Sign

We all recognize that astrology isn’t a flawless science, so there’s no need to limit your dating pool strictly to signs labeled “compatible.” However, if you’ve tracked the zodiac signs of past partners, you might have noticed certain pairings present more natural friction. This happens because some sign combinations genuinely navigate relationships better than others. So, which zodiac sign might be the toughest dating prospect for you? An expert astrologer has the answer.

Astrologer and owner of AstroOils, Kristina Semos, explains to Bustle that “Astrology is a wonderful tool you can use to pinpoint and clarify your needs, not just in your career and health, but especially in matters of the heart.” She says that “Reviewing your own chart (or having an expert read it) can give you insight into everything,” from your personal flirting technique and how you “prefer to be courted, to what holds the most value for you in a partnership, how much personal space you require, how conventional or unconventional you might be, who you’re immediately drawn to, and whether that connection will ultimately satisfy your deeper emotional desires.”

Semos notes that astrological compatibility isn’t a simple yes or no rating. She explains, “Certain zodiac sign pairings naturally harmonize more easily than others, but every dynamic has distinct advantages and disadvantages.” Semos adds, “Even if all the indicators scream, ‘No! Steer clear of dating that sign!’ you could still gain something positive from the experience if you keep an open mind.” You just have to be ready for a few significant road bumps.

If you’re someone who thrives on a good challenge, here is the sign you’re most likely to clash with romantically, based on your own sign.

Ram (March 21 — April 19): The Goat

Aries, it’s understandable why you’d be drawn to Capricorn. They share your ambition, drive, and goal of being a top performer. You might see them as the perfect co-pilot for dominating the world. The major issue, however, is that both of you insist on leading the relationship. Semos notes, “Aries craves the freedom to act as they wish, while Capricorn is dedicated to maintaining control.” She warns, “Barring other mitigating factors in your birth charts, the struggle for power might be too rigid to allow the relationship to flourish.”

Bull (April 20 — May 20): The Water Bearer

As a Venus-ruled Taurus, you look forward to a partner who will woo you, express affection, and make you feel uniquely cherished. You desire a traditional romance. However, the air sign Aquarius is anything but conventional. Semos predicts, “Taurus will likely flinch and feel embarrassed by Aquarius‘s unconventional ways.” She continues, “They will also struggle to get the reliable commitment they long for.” Though you understand that relationships require effort, this particular match may demand too much emotional labor from you.

Twins (May 21 — June 20): The Crab

Geminis adore social life. You are naturally charming, a master flirt, and easily make friends with absolutely everyone. You bring energy to any gathering, making you highly desirable. Cancer, conversely, is far more reserved. They prefer being at home and only share their true self with a select few. As a Gemini, you’ll immediately sense incompatibility when you want to spend weekends out and your partner prefers staying in to stream films. According to Semos, “Gemini could become quite bored, and Cancer won’t receive the profound emotional validation they need.” Your lifestyles are simply too different.

Crab (June 21 — July 22): The Archer

You are a deeply sensitive, nurturing soul who takes everything personally. You are the sign that mentally logs every slight or hurtful comment ever directed at you. Meanwhile, Sagittarius is famous for speaking impulsively and putting their foot in their mouth constantly. According to Semos, “Cancer won’t even recover from one mistake before Sagittarius blurts out the next careless remark.” Furthermore, you are the ultimate homebody, while Sagittarius is the freedom-chasing explorer. You will likely spend endless hours arguing about how much time you should be spending together.

Lion (July 23 — Aug. 22): The Fish

As a regal Leo, you love to be showered with admiration and attention. While Pisces can certainly make you feel special, they can be incredibly difficult to pin down. Semos says, “Leo demands total dedication and loyalty—essentially, Loyalty with a capital ‘L.'” However, “Pisces tends to have a wandering eye. When the passion is at its peak, this dynamic is a perfect setup for heartbreak and disappointment.” Their relationship often becomes a prime example of things crashing once the initial excitement fades.

Maiden (Aug. 23 — Sept. 22): The Ram

Apart from your mutual drive for excellence, you and Aries share little common ground for a good romantic connection. For one, you are highly organized and meticulously plan your life, while Aries is spontaneous and follows every whim. Semos also notes that Virgo loves to be supportive, while Aries insists on dominating and taking charge. “If a power-exchange dynamic appeals to you, this is ideal,” she says. “But if you seek a conventional partnership, it can become exploitative, especially if Virgo allows themselves to be overpowered.”

Scales (Sept. 23 — Oct. 22): The Maiden

On a positive note, both you and Virgo are intellectual signs, guaranteeing you’ll always have engaging discussions. But Semos cautions that the romantic spark necessary for a partnership is often absent. “Libra expects to be wined, dined, and pampered, but Virgo is not a naturally decisive sign,” she explains. “You’ll have countless back-and-forth arguments like, ‘Where do you want to eat?’ ‘Wherever you want to eat!’ with no choice ever being made.” Your Venus-ruled taste for luxury will also likely irritate the more sensible and frugal Virgo.

Scorpion (Oct. 23 — Nov. 21): The Twins

It’s easy to see why Gemini would grab your attention. They are intelligent, charming, and skilled at making you feel understood. As one of the most mysterious signs, you’ll find their communication style quite refreshing. Like you, they enjoy using psychological games to assess others, which might intrigue you. However, you need unconditional trust from your partner. Sadly, you’ll constantly doubt the truthfulness of Gemini‘s last statement. Semos points out that Scorpio requires profound emotional closeness, while Gemini prefers offering only superficial charm. This relationship may be entertaining briefly, but it’s not worth investing significant emotional energy into.

Archer (Nov. 22 — Dec. 21): The Scorpion

Your love of independence is no secret. You are the zodiac’s explorer, needing to be out experiencing the world, or you feel stagnant. When you’re constantly on the move, you require a partner who supports your lifestyle. Scorpio is decidedly not that partner. Semos says that Scorpio is the type of person who needs to track their significant other’s location. Furthermore, you thrive on exploring new concepts, locations, and philosophies, while Scorpio will simply refuse to join in. Semos calls them a “total mood-killer.”

Goat (Dec. 22 — Jan. 19): The Ram

As a Capricorn, you are typically drawn to partners who match your ambition. After all, you are highly practical and tend to choose people who can boost your standing in some way. While Aries has the potential to be that person, you’ll frequently clash since you both insist on being in charge. Semos notes that Capricorns are very protective of their public image, and Aries‘ sometimes reckless and impulsive behavior could be a drawback for you. “They might damage the flawless image Capricorn has worked so hard to maintain,” she says.

Water Bearer (Jan. 20 — Feb. 18): The Goat

As the zodiac’s most forward-thinking and unconventional sign, Capricorn represents everything you tend to rebel against. For example, Aquarius writes their own rulebook and acts uniquely, while Capricorn upholds all rules and traditions. Semos states, “Aquarius champions ‘power to the people,’ while Capricorn is ‘The Man’ personified!” The probability is high that you’ll date a Capricorn a couple of times before deciding to cut contact. Though you enjoy a lively debate, your core values are too divergent for a lasting partnership.

Fish (Feb. 19 — March 20): The Lion

Both you and Leo are genuine romantics who adore being deeply in love. Unfortunately, that’s where the similarities largely end. Semos notes that Leo demands their partner’s undivided attention for most of the time, while Pisces needs to retreat into their internal fantasy world. Leo may perceive you as too dreamy or absent for their liking, while you’ll feel like a child constantly scolded by a teacher. As a Pisces, you are also notoriously slow to commit, preferring to allow things to unfold naturally. This lack of certainty is highly frustrating for a Leo who always needs firm answers. Ultimately, the relationship will be emotionally taxing for both of you.
