The silver-haired beauty Andie MacDowell, a famous performer since her on-screen debut in the 1980s, is currently advocating for gray pride. She was formerly well-known for having extraordinarily curling brown hair.
Aging with grace, MacDowell acknowledged that she likes “comparing herself to George Clooney, because why not?”
The 65-year-old Andie MacDowell is a naturally beautiful woman with nothing to conceal. April 21st marked her senior citizen status.
The southern belle got her start in the fashion industry as a model for high-end brands like Calvin Klein, Yves St Laurent, and Armani. In the 1984 motion picture Greystroke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes, she made her screen debut. In the Oscar-nominated film, MacDowell played Jane, but Glenn Close dubbed her voice because MacDowell’s drawl was too pronounced.
Then, in a supporting part in St. Elmo’s Fire, the refined, soft-spoken actor mesmerized the audience by making an appearance next to the close-knit Brat Pack.
Following that, she starred in Sex, Lies & Videotape (1989), Steven Soderbergh’s debut feature film, for which she received her first Golden Globe nomination.
Her big break came from costarring with Bill Murray in the seminal 1983 movie Groundhog Day, which influenced mainstream culture for decades to come. Following her role in the Hugh Grant comedy Four Weddings and a Funeral (1984), her notoriety increased even further.
After becoming well-known for his method of acting, MacDowell continued to perform a range of roles in films including Harrison’s Flowers and the family TV series Cedar Cove.
It’s hardly surprising that MacDowell, who has stunning brown hair, was picked to feature in TV commercials for L’Oréal hair products.
Recently observed strolling about Cannes, MacDowell openly flaunts her makeup-free visage, which is framed by the low bun of her now-gray, silver hair.
The Green Card actor attended the 76th Cannes Film Festival, showing off her inherent beauty. She accessorized with dark shades, a black and brown platform shoe, and a warm white minidress with stripes.
Before Covid, MacDowell remarked that she welcomed the arrival of her gray hair. In an interview with Vogue, she stated, “My hair started growing at the very beginning of quarantine, and every time my kids would see me, they kept telling me I looked badass with my gray hair.”
You could only see the salt and pepper when I pulled it up in a bun, which is exactly how I am—dark and silver. Why not? I enjoy drawing comparisons between myself and George Clooney. I’ve been stating for a while now that I felt it was time for me to go through that change because it fit my personality and who I am.
She also stated that if she accepts where she is at this moment, she will become stronger, even though her managers told her that “it’s not the time” for her to become gray. Now is the moment…I won’t get the chance to be salt and pepper if I don’t do it now. I’ve always wished to be pepper and salt.
In 2022, McDowell featured a photo of herself with gray hair and a natural look on the cover of Style magazine. Her caption read, “As we age, we deserve dignity and pride.” She said, “We deserve to feel glorious.” I’ve always believed that beauty knows no bounds.
There’s no end in sight for her acting career either.
In 2021, MacDowell participated in the Netflix drama series Main alongside her daughter Margaret Qualley, 28, whom she had with her former husband Paul Qualley. The other children of MacDowell and Qualley are son Justin and daughter Rainey; they were married in 1986 and separated in 1999.
“You walk in the room and you have your mom playing your mom—that’s the biggest cheat in the world,” Margaret stated in an interview with USA Today about her work with her mother. That extends to the innate eye rolls you get whenever your mother says something.
The young performer continues by describing a scene in Maid in which her mother, Paula, tells her character, Alex, “that she’s proud of her.” It was one of the finest things I had ever experienced, and I got the impression that my mother was expressing her pride in me.
MacDowell is currently filming Goodrich, starring Kevin Pollak, Michael Keaton, and Mila Kunis. MacDowell and Keaton starred in the 1996 movie Multiplicity.
The film’s director and writer is Hallie Meyerers-Shyer, who, like Margaret, is one of many “no babies” of rising stars and starlets with incredibly renowned parents.
Daughter of Nancy Meyers (Something’s Gotta Give, It’s Complicated) and Charles Shyer (Baby Boom), Hallie is a child actor who appeared in numerous of her parents’ films, such as Father of the Bride and What Women Want.
Additionally, there is Kaia Gerber, a famous model whose mother is Cindy Crawford and who is currently in a relationship with Austin Butler, the protagonist of the upcoming biopic Elvis (2022), and Maya Hawke, who is the star of the popular Netflix series Stranger Things and the daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke.
Dakota Johnson, the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, is well-known for the Fifty Shades series, and Colin, the son of Tom Hank, has acted in several motion pictures and television series.
In the interim, MacDowell stated her hope that she will have more opportunities to act with her daughter.
“Every moment was precious to me,” she remarked. I was afraid that this might never happen again, so I truly wanted to do well because it meant everything to me.
Andie McDowell’s gray hair looks amazing on her, and we adore that she’s accepting her inherent beauty!
