Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter Shiloh’s request to drop dad’s last name has been officially granted.

Us Weekly can confirm that Shiloh, the daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, has been formally granted permission to renounce her father’s last name.

The 18-year-old’s petition was approved, and there was no “formal” court hearing, according to TMZ, which broke the story first on Monday, August 19. Officially, she goes by Jolie. (Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt was Shiloh’s prior full name.)

Shiloh submitted the necessary paperwork on May 27 to formally alter her name from Shiloh Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Jolie, according to court records that We were able to get. She became a legal adult on that date because it was her 18th birthday.

We later verified that Shiloh paid for and engaged a private attorney to finish the legal process.

In addition, Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, and the twins, Knox and Vivienne, 15, live with Brad, 60, and Angelina, 49. After over ten years together, the couple was married in August 2014, but they haven’t been together since Angelina filed for divorce in September 2016. Despite being officially proclaimed single in April 2019, they still haven’t finalized their divorce and agreed upon a long-term parenting plan for their young children.

Shiloh is not the first kid of the former couple to no longer use her father’s last name. When Zahara first joined the Spelman College sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha, she gave her introduction using just her mother’s last name.

A different source told Us in March that the “negotiation process” between Brad and Angelina “was agonizing,” but the processes may be coming to an end soon despite their ongoing legal battle. Brad was not “thrilled” with their deal since he still planned to get back in touch with his kids, Vivienne and Knox, which would have given Angelina primary custody of their youngest children.

The insider stated at the time, “He wishes their relationship was stronger and wants to work on that,” and that Brad was upset that he “doesn’t see the kids” more frequently.
