Miley Cyrus Explains Why She Ended Her Touring Career: “I’m Just On My Endless Summer Vacation”

Miley Cyrus stated in an interview with British Vogue, which was published digitally on May 18, that she is no longer interested in performing and has no plans to travel in the near future. Her stunning decision came just one week after the release of Endless Summer Vacation, her eighth studio album.

“I can’t. Not only ‘can’t,’ because can’t is your capability, but my desire. Do I want to live my life for anyone else’s pleasure or fulfillment other than my own?” She explained her choice to retire from touring. While she adores her fans and values their unwavering support, she does not enjoy touring.

Singing for hundreds of thousands of people isn’t really the thing that I love,” she told British Vogue – which featured the 30-year-old artist on their June 2023 cover. “There’s no connection. There’s no safety. It’s also not natural. It’s so isolating because if you’re in front of 100,000 people then you are alone.”

Miley Cyrus came to Instagram on May 24 (Wednesday) to defend and clarify her decision, as well as explain the logic behind it. She opened her statement by thanking her fans, to whom she feels more connected than ever before, and she added that her admirers are ‘felt deeply in my heart.’

“I’m constantly creating and innovating new ways that I can stay connected to the audience I love – without sacrificing my own essentials,” She penned a letter. “Performances for YOU have been some of the best days of my life, and we will continue this journey together as we have for nearly two decades.”

She informed her fans that her decision was not motivated by a lack of love for them. Instead, she’s making this decision for her own good, citing the reality of life on the road’ and describing some of the difficulties that come with it, such as sleeping on a moving bus for months at a time.

“It isn’t what’s best for me right now, and if you’ve been following my career, you know that I always change, and the way I feel about that could too,” she remarked, hinting that if she changes her mind, she may go on tour in the future. “Love you forever, I’m just on my Endless Summer Vacation.”

Miley Cyrus’ new album is chart-topping.

People all across the world stop what they’re doing to listen to Miley Cyrus’ new music, and the vast majority of them appreciate what they hear. Endless Summer Vacation, her latest album, was released on May 10 – four months after the first song, ‘Flowers,’ was published.

That song peaked at No. 1 on the Mediabase pop radio airplay chart and is currently No. 2 on the chart. Since then, two more tracks from the album have reached the top 20: ‘River,’ which peaked at No. 20, and ‘Jaded,’ which debuted at No. 19 on the radio list this week.

Endless Summer Vacation is the 30-year-old’s seventh studio album, but her first since Plastic Hearts in 2020. It was also her first album since leaving RCA Records in 2021 and shortly thereafter signed with Columbia Records. She worked for RCA for seven years and recorded four albums.
