In a nursing residence, an 80-year-old man is adamant about bringing his wife food each morning. “Why is his wife in a retirement home?” the questioner questioned. “She has Alzheimer’s disease,” he shot back.
“Would your Wife be worried if one day you didn’t come and bring her breakfast?” was the question posed to him. and he remarked, “She hasn’t recognized me in five years. She doesn’t even know who I am.”
Startled, a nurse questioned him:
“Even though your wife doesn’t even recognize you, why do you bring her breakfast every morning?” She doesn’t know who I am, but I know who she is, the man replied, grinning and meeting her gaze.
